Caribou Hits East Coast and West Coast

Caribou Nation, we hope everyone is doing well and gearing up for Spring Time! The Caribou team recently split forces and invaded LA and NYC. Bill and Bobby were in LA and Martha, Lori, Ellie, and Rotman were in NYC.

Bobby and Bill went out to do an open house in Studio City, CA at Mrs. and Mr. Charles Fradin's home... Capital A.K.A "Frado" 19 year camper, counselor, and program director.  Also, home of Noah and Daniel Fradin, multiple year Caribou campers.  The open house was amazing! the Fradins have a pool (they didn't swim, it was a bit to cold) they got paddle tennis courts on a full length basketball court, wicked cool.  They got two in ground tramps with a basketball hoop next to them.  Erik Norfolk, soon to be new camper, was tramp slamming on the 10 foot rim, his brother Ian Norfolk, who will also be coming to Caribou this summer, was there, the two love skateboarding, stand up paddle boarding, water skiing, wake boarding, and can't wait for June 27th. BouYah.  Cooper Pate, new guy from Studio City, lives 4 doors from the Fradins, will be joining the 11 year old age group this summer, he loves all sports, but especially basketball.  He was shooting the lights out of Frado's court.  He knows Avi Kapadia and is looking forward to balling out with the 11u Bball squad.

Bobby and Bill spent several days in LA recruiting new campers and then proceeded to Coronado, CA.  Coronado is the island opposite of San Diego.  They went there and met with Andres, Santiago, Patricio, Diego, Danny and sister Maria Girault.  They live in a condo on the beach, directly next to the US Navy Seals Training Center.  WHO-AHH.  Bill and Bobby played beach football and hung out with all the Giraults and they're friends on the beach.  They were also fortunate in meeting lots of the boys friends who are interested in coming to Caribou this summer. They met Ryan and Garrett Sauter, Charlie Tomlin (C-Tom), and JJ Pintado. They were able to show everyone who attended the new Caribou Video in the hotel Del Colonado.  The hotel is unbelievably amazing.  It was built in 1888 and is the largest wooden structure remaining in the Unites States.  The place was Disneyland, multiple pools, spas, beach front, etc.  The Giraults and their buddies spend their time surfing, skimboarding, bike riding, scootering, skateboarding, playing beach football, and chilling in SoCal.  We want to thank the Giraults and Fradins for their tremendous hospitality.  We would love to come to your area and have an open with you and your friends, anytime you wish.

As Bill and Bobby were all over SoCal... Martha, Lori, Rotman, and Ellie were on the east coast for the NY Caribou Reunion at the House of Sports.  The reunion was AWESOME!!  They kicked off the event with a little entourage to get everyone movin' and screamin'.  From their the crew of 56 campers split up and played gaga, dodgeball, and flag football.  Sam Cox threw it down in the gaga pit, Dylan Lublin was holding his own on the dodgeball field, and Gabe Pinkus, Max Kaufman and Andy Godnick ran the show on the field turf.  We have to point out Martha's GaGa skills, UNREAL, who knew!! After about 45 minutes of playing around, we organized a 30 v 30 dodgeball match.  Cole Cutlip and Jeremy Wolf had the great idea of using mega earth balls as protection.  The game was massive and everyone had a great time.

At the end we all gathered for pizza and snacks.  It was great to catch up with everyone and one of the highlights that we heard was that Max Fisher recently won the New Jersey State Robotics Championship and is now off to CA for the World Championship in April, Good Luck Max!

The NY Reunion was so much fun and we want to thank everyone for coming out.  Keep in touch... 121 Days until Camp BEGINS!

Caribou hits the streets of NYC

The Caribou blog is back and better than ever.  We hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the New Year!  Last weekend, Bill, Martha and Bobby went down to NYC to visit with new families, present families, and some awesome Caribou alumni.  The city was jumping as the Super Bowl was in town!  Bill and Martha started the weekend off by seeing Carter Gordon play in a youth hockey game in Central Park... Riley and his parents joined us as well.  First off, Riley still has the great hockey hair flow going! And second, Central Park is the perfect spot for a hockey game..  Carter scored 2 goals and his team came up victorious!  BOUYAH. Carter says "hello" to Caribou Nation.  He also has been in touch with Tigs a lot and is so happy that he is returning to the hockey program at Caribou!
Then the next stop was the Fallon family for brunch.  Oliver and Conrad were there with their sister Daisy, their parents, and their Grandmother. Conrad, actually made the breakfast himself! He is an amazing chef. He made homemade crepes and popovers! Conrad is definitely going to have to teach a class or two this summer in our new culinary arts facility. He even sent Bill and Martha home with extra popovers. It was all so good!

Then Bill and Martha were off to Central Park to meet up with Avi K. and his family. It was so great to see him and catch up with him. He is playing a lot of basketball and having a great school year. Bill and Martha also had a chance to visit with Linus Grieco and talk with his younger brother Henry who will be joining us at camp for the first time this summer. We are all pumped for the upcoming summer!

Sunday evening Bill, Martha, and Bobby watched the Super Bowl at a close friends apartment who also happen to be the parents of two Caribou alumni, David and Ben Alterescue.  David is now traveling all over the world as the Global Marketing Director for Spotify. His brother Ben, another great Caribou alum, is a documentary film producer. He has a new film out now available on iTunes called "Book of Lone Peak". You should all check it out. It's a short film about a great High School basketball team in Utah.

We look forward to seeing many more of you at our New York reunion at House of Sports on February 23rd.  Keep in touch… 140 days until camp begins!

Caribou Updates Everywhere!

Hey Guys, we recently sent out a newsletter to all your parents, but we wanted to update you on what's going on at the 'Bou.  Things are rockin' n' rollin' at the headquarters.  Camp has officially been winterized for the winter.

Staff News: Damian who was the final guy to leave the 'Bou is now in DC hangin' out with Talia and seeing some camp guys from the area.  Currently Damian is chillin' in Rockville with the Voyta's.  Unfortunately he's experiencing the governmental lockdown and can't see any of the museums.  And you know Damian, he's a big historical loving guy! In other staff news, there's been an English invasion into Australia of Willcox, Oli, and Southall who have all moved there and plan to live in Australia for the coming months.  I'm sure they will meet up with our Ski Director, Ryan Scott, and other former Caribou staff members.  CoCo has recently moved to Chicago and is absolutely loving life in the windy city!  Al Harding is doing massive things in South Africa.  He's been riding his motorbike, working for Tecworks (fixing computers), hitting the gym, taking short walks on the beach, enjoying pony rides in the sand, and catching up on Modern Family.  And last, but certainly not least, Ross Grant has been hitting the books hard and trying to get a degree in Sport Science.

Camper News: Ben LaRaus, who has been a one man wrecking machine on the football field is playing safety and receiver for the Fox Lane Middle School.  Henry Davis is playing travel soccer for the Met Oval soccer club and absolutely tearing it up.  Sam Mikesell is playing for the Red Devils soccer team at defense and recently started middle school!  Alex Sutton is having a great start to the school year and is playing goalie for MSC Villa club team.  Blake Aviv is doing all sorts of things and is playing tennis, basketball, and chess! Get after it Blake.  If you have any news please let us know and send to info@campcaribou.com.

Post Camp, Reunions, and So Much More

What's up Caribou Nation, we hope all is well and everyone is enjoying the start of the school year.  Caribou headquarters is officially back in it's winter office and we are officially gearing up for the 2014 summer!  We want to thank all of our post season groups that came up to camp this summer, The Brookwood School, The Bancroft School, Fenn, and The Maine Outdoor Women.  We had a tremendous time with each group and we hope to see them all next year.

Things are now pretty much wrapped up at the 'Bou.  Damian, Jerry Wentworth, and Mike Day are the sole guys from the post season crew left at the 'Bou.  They are currently remodeling bunk 10 and winterizing the entire camp for the upcoming season.
So, now we're off and running with the 2014 summer.  Mark it down in your calendars, the Boston Reunion has been set for November 3rd, 2013 at Fun & Games for some classic arcade action then off to the The Verve -Crown Plaza for lunch, great times, reunion shirts, and yearbooks!  Please let us know if you are able to make the reunion by emailing info@campcaribou.com.

Things have been rockin' in the Caribou office, we just received the CMCL 2013 Caribou Championship banner!  Bobby just came back from New York meeting with families interested for next summer.  Bill is at camp helping out Damian and Wentworth remodel Bunk 10.  And Martha, Lori, and Rotman are holding it down in the Caribou headquarters working on making the summer of 2014 EPIC!

For our Caribou parents, we found two great articles about summer camp through the American Camping Association blog.  The first article is about "What Camp Teaches Children" and the second is about "Signing up for Camp."  Check them out!  We have had a strong re-enrollment for next summer and if you would like to save a spot today you can do so by clicking on the following link: Camper Application

Keep in touch, have a great fall season, and see you guys at the reunions!

Caribou Post Camp 2013

Hey guys, we hope you're enjoying the end of the summer season!  Things have been rockin' up here at the 'Bou!  We just came off a week long pre-season football camp with Wayland High School, Wellesley High School, and Tyngsboro High School. It was back to the grid iron for all three teams.  The week included loads of practices, the Caribou ropes course, the aquazip, chilling on our new waterfront trampolines, a campfire, tremendous meals, and a scrimmage at the end.  We had a great week with them and we wish them all the best this upcoming season.

The post camp staff (Southall, our Waterski Director Ryan Scott, Oli, Willcox, Alastair Harding, Damien, Kuba, Raffa, Bobby, Rotman, Lori, Bill, and Martha) all have been working hard on cleaning up camp and getting things looking even better for next summer.  One of our projects is revamping bunk 10, as seen in the first photo!

With everything going on at camp, things are definitely not same without all our campers and staff.  We miss everybody and hope that everyone has a great start to the school year.  Keep in touch and we'll see you guys at the fall reunions.  BOU YAH
